NDPS Register (Controlled Drugs)

The NDPS Register (ipd/pages/ndps_register.php) is the Controlled Drugs Register mandated under India's Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985 / Schedule X, tracking every administration of a controlled substance to an inpatient. It has separate read and write permissions: ipd_ndps_read (view only) and ipd_ndps_write (add/edit entries).

Step-by-step

  1. Go to NDPS Register for the admission (requires at least ipd_ndps_read to view).
  2. To log a new entry, you need ipd_ndps_write: record the drug, quantity, batch/stock reference, date/time administered, and the administering/witnessing staff.
  3. Entries build a chronological, auditable register of controlled substance use for that admission.

Common issues & fixes

you have ipd_ndps_read only; ask an admin for ipd_ndps_write if you need to log entries.
you need at least ipd_ndps_read to view the page at all.
controlled drug dispensing should reconcile with the Pharmacy module's own controlled substances tracking; flag discrepancies to pharmacy staff promptly.
