Pharmacists, Head pharmacists expiry-report expiring-stock alerts

The Expiry Report (pharmacy/pages/expiry_report.php) lists every stock batch expiring within a chosen window (default 90 days), sorted by soonest expiry first, including whether the drug is a controlled/scheduled substance.

Step-by-step

Go to Expiry Report.
Adjust the days window if needed (e.g., 30, 60, 90 days out).
Review batches nearing expiry, prioritizing dispensing or supplier returns for those closest to expiring.
For controlled substances nearing expiry, coordinate disposal/return per regulatory requirements (see Controlled Drug Register).

Common issues & fixes

check quantity_remaining on that batch; the report only shows batches with stock still remaining.

consider adjusting future purchase order quantities to avoid recurring over-stock.
