FHIR / HL7 Export

FHIR Export (?page=fhir-export) converts a patient's records into standard FHIR/HL7 format for interoperability with other health systems, national health exchanges, or research/reporting requirements. It maps the app's own data model (patients, appointments, diagnoses, medications, vitals, lab reports/results, and — for inpatients — admissions) to FHIR resources.

Step-by-step

  1. Go to FHIR Export.
  2. Select the patient (and, for inpatient data, the relevant admission).
  3. Choose which data categories to include (demographics, diagnoses, medications, vitals, labs).
  4. Generate and download the FHIR-formatted export (or import, if the tool supports round-tripping from another FHIR-compliant system).

Common issues & fixes

some FHIR resources require specific source fields (e.g., medication route, diagnosis ICD/DSM code); make sure the underlying patient record has these filled in.
confirm the target system expects the same FHIR version/profile the export uses; this is common in cross-system interoperability and may need IT involvement on both ends.
