Data Reset (Factory Reset)

Data Reset (?page=data-reset) lets an admin wipe application data back to a "just installed" state — useful when moving from a test/demo setup to real production use — while choosing which categories of data to keep.

Built-in safety rails

  • A mandatory backup is created automatically immediately before anything is deleted, using the same bundle format as the regular Backup tool, and can be rolled back from this same page afterward.
  • Admin-only, requiring both access_settings and the admin role.
  • Certain tables are never touched, regardless of what you select: app settings, role permissions, cron settings, module registry, and connected Cal.com/Google OAuth tokens — deleting these would either lock everyone out or wipe integration credentials unrelated to clinical data.
  • The users table is never fully truncated — the currently logged-in admin's own account always survives, even if "Staff Accounts" is included in the reset.

Step-by-step

  1. Go to Settings → Data Reset.
  2. Select which data categories to wipe (e.g., patients, appointments, billing) and which to keep.
  3. Confirm — a safety backup is taken automatically first.
  4. The reset runs; use the automatic backup to roll back if something wasn't intended.

Common issues & fixes

shouldn't happen since your own admin account and settings/permissions tables are protected by design; if access still seems wrong, use the auto-created backup to restore.
check the automatic backup created just before the reset; it reflects the exact state right before the operation.
